Free Steam games with descriptions and screenshots

One row per Steam application ID, with titles, store links, descriptions, genres and features, supported platforms, release dates, developer and publisher credits, review and achievement counts, and available artwork, screenshot and trailer URLs. Media are links rather than bundled files.

CLEF adds three ranked emoji labels plus mood, setting, gameplay and social tags. These annotations are model interpretations, not publisher facts; fit scores are uncalibrated.

The verified table contains 23,096 unique Steam application IDs, including 8,224 games added from Steam's appdetails endpoint after a fresh catalogue comparison on October 9, 2026. All 10 quality checks passed, with three emoji labels per game.

The update retains 14,872 previously verified records from the pinned FronkonGames snapshot and enriches missing IDs from Steam's English-language, US-storefront free-game catalogue. The listing can include demos, prologues and upcoming games; coming_soon distinguishes upcoming releases where supplied. Unsuccessful, paid and non-game appdetails answers are excluded. Region-restricted, delisted or unavailable titles may be absent. Application 3244680 is omitted: its public API title is blank and its Community Hub requires login. Zero price at acquisition does not guarantee current availability or permanently free status.

Monthly Steam maintenance is scheduled to discover new games and publish verified updates. This release is a snapshot. Existing records retain their original provenance and timestamps; this update does not re-fetch all older metadata. Prices are in US dollars and historical price changes are not included.

For 3 records with blank API names, Steam Community Hub titles are retained with name-specific source URLs, hashes and timestamps.

• Identity and price: appid, name, store_url, is_free, price_usd.
• Text: short_description, description_html, about_html, languages and available review text.
• Media: artwork, 32 individually named screenshot fields and up to 8 trailers. media_image_urls_json retains complete available screenshot arrays beyond the flattened fields.
• Metadata: up to 16 genres, 40 categories, 8 developers and 8 publishers; Windows, macOS and Linux flags; release status, age requirements, recommendations, achievements and supplied critic scores.
• Annotations: emoji_1–emoji_3, fit scores, mood, setting, gameplay, social, tags_text and tag_model.
• Provenance: metadata_source, metadata_revision, fetched_at, source_sha256, catalog_candidate_count, and optional name_source_url, name_source_sha256, name_source_fetched_at.

Optional fields are null when unavailable. Older snapshot records do not supply every field in the shared schema. Nested arrays have the flattened limits above unless retained in the complete media field.

The upstream compilation lists an MIT licence. Publisher descriptions, artwork and other third-party content retain their owners' rights; no blanket open licence is asserted for those assets. This is an independent dataset, unaffiliated with Valve or Steam.
