Central Europe co-authors of OpenAI, Meta, DeepMind papers

• Window: papers with a publication date up to 2026-09-29, the day OpenAlex was read. Fixed snapshot, no scheduled refresh.
• Grain: one row per paper and Central-European author.
• Cadence: none. The snapshot holds 511 rows; 2026 alone accounts for 135 of the 322 papers.

• work_id, doi, title, landing_page_url: the paper's OpenAlex identifier, DOI, title and landing page.
• publication_year, publication_date, work_type, venue, cited_by_count: when and where the paper appeared, its OpenAlex work type, and how many works cite it.
• author_key, author_id, author_name, author_orcid: the Central-European author, keyed by OpenAlex author id or by printed name when OpenAlex resolved none.
• author_position, is_corresponding: first, middle or last author, and corresponding-author status.
• author_institutions, author_countries: the author's resolved institutions on that paper and their ISO country codes, semicolon separated.
• author_also_lab_affiliated: true when the same author also lists one of the four labs on that paper.
• lab_names, lab_coauthor_names, lab_coauthor_count: which labs appear on the paper, the names of the lab-affiliated co-authors, and how many there are.
• ce_author_count: how many Central-European authors the paper has.

A DOI, ORCID, venue or OpenAlex author id that OpenAlex does not record is null. Authors with no resolved institution are not in the table, because OpenAlex assigns them no country. OpenAlex lists at most 100 authors per paper in search results, so on the four papers with more than 100 authors only the first 100 were examined.

• Finding researchers in Czechia, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria or Slovenia with a publication link to a frontier AI lab.
• Counting collaborations per lab, country or year.
• Building an author-level view by grouping rows on author_key.
• Checking a named co-authorship against a specific public paper.

All rows come from the OpenAlex works API, read once on 2026-09-29 with one query per lab. A lab affiliation counts only when it is printed on the paper beside the co-author's name; a co-author who joined a lab later is not captured. OpenAlex publishes its data under the CC0 public-domain dedication.
