Description

Check whether a European financial firm is licensed, live on SEPA Instant, sanctioned or named in a regulator warning. One table brings together official registers from across the EU: ESMA's registers of investment firms, fund managers, crowdfunding providers, trading venues and crypto-asset firms; the ECB's list of banks, money market funds and central banks; the EBA's register of payment and e-money institutions; the European Payments Council's SEPA Instant and payee-check registers; national regulators' warning lists; and EU financial sanctions.

Each row is one official record, and record_type says which kind: a licence, a payment scheme participant, a regulator warning or a sanctioned entity. People are removed.

Coverage

  • Window: each register as published on the day of the build. A licence with an until date has ended.
  • Licences: every EU and EEA member state, from ESMA's registers and MiCA registers, the ECB's list of monetary financial institutions (EU only) and the EBA's register of payment institutions, e-money institutions, account information providers, small and exempt institutions and their branches (agents and other people left out), plus the Czech National Bank's lists.
  • Warnings: the national lists of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, France, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden, ESMA's non-compliant crypto firms, and the warnings of about 290 foreign regulators that Hungary's central bank relays (among them Spain's CNMV, Italy's CONSOB and the UK's FCA).
  • Size on 19 October 2026: 55,506 records: 26,038 licences (4,695 of them from the EBA's register), 24,746 warnings, 2,947 payment scheme participants and 1,775 sanctioned entities.
  • Cadence: rebuilt once a day.

Columns

  • record_type, name, category and since: what the record is, whom it names, what it says and when it took effect.
  • country, lei, bic, national_id and website_domain: the identifiers to match a counterparty on.
  • in_sct_inst, in_vop and vop_role: whether a payment service provider can receive instant euro payments and answer payee checks.
  • authority, source_list and source_url: who published the record, in which list, and where to read it.

Missing values and limits

A column that does not apply to a record type stays empty. Values a publisher leaves blank stay empty. A firm absent from the table is not proof that it is licensed, unlicensed or safe. A warning about a clone keeps the regulator's clone marker in the name: it warns about the impersonator, not the named firm. Some national lists are left out because their terms forbid reuse (Austria, Estonia, Italy's IVASS, Luxembourg, Malta), robots.txt excludes them (Germany's BaFin, Cyprus) or a bot check or POST-only search blocks them (Italy's CONSOB, Spain's CNMV, Lithuania, Slovenia, Finland).

Suitable for

  • Checking whether a counterparty holds an EU licence, and from which authority.
  • Screening a firm or website against regulator warnings and EU sanctions before paying it.
  • Testing whether an AI agent checks licences and warnings before it moves money.
